J&J Contractors, Inc. was selected through the State of Massachusetts DCAM competitive bid program as the General Contractor for the new Alfred S. Letourneau Elementary School in Fall River, MA.

The construction included a new two story elementary school building with approximately 94,000SF of floor area. The building is divided into two parts, Part A and Part B.

Part A consists of administrative offices, classrooms, a gymnasium, cafeteria, kitchen, community/faculty dining area, a stage on the first floor and the school library customized with a curtain wall system on the second floor.

Part B consists of pre-kindergarten and kindergarten classrooms. There are general classrooms and special education classrooms on the first floor while the second floor just have general classrooms. Miscellaneous storage rooms and restrooms are located throughout both levels of each part.

The full scope of work consisted of site work activities including the installation of a 10’ perimeter retaining wall, ledge removal and utilities as well as building construction of a structural steel and CMU envelope with masonry veneer, M/E/P systems and two elevator systems.

The building also incorporated high efficiency boilers and equipment for a dual fuel option, occupancy sensors for lighting data and telecommunication infrastructures.
